Teaching philosophy
As an artist and dance educator, I believe we have the ability to connect people more deeply to their own humanity. My teaching philosophy is rooted in cultivating curiosity, which I believe is the foundation for empowering students to take the lead in their education and more deeply integrate information. My classes combine theory and practice to create a dynamic learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas, and discover a deeper connection to their self and artistic voice. Throughout my career, I have gained the skills to unite these teaching methodologies and integrate them into the classroom. College courses taught include: Fundamentals of Movement, Contemporary Dance Forms, Contact Improvisation, Dance in Context: History and Criticism, Dance Composition and Improvisation, Dance in Film, Dance Composition for the Camera, Improvisation, and faculty advisor for the showcase Dance Extravaganza.
